Shared Revenue Interactive Tool for Counties

Wisconsin 2023 Act 12 made significant changes to county and municipal shared revenue by allocating 20% of the state sales tax collections to local governments. As state sales collections grow, so too will distributions to county government.

This below visual displays County and Municipal Aid (CMA) payments to counties, which grow at the same rate as state sales tax collections beginning in 2025 as well as utility aid payments. Beginning in 2025, county variations in percentage change in shared revenues are due to utility aid changes. The full data source can be found on the Department of Revenue website here.
